BREAKING NEWS MAP: Which zone is your region in under Italy’s coronavirus restrictions?

Posted by on April 23, 2021 0

Find out the latest on where restrictions are currently the tightest under Italy’s partial lockdown.

Italy’s regional system of either ‘red’ or ‘orange’ zones, both meaning tight travel restrictions and business closures, will continue – but some may be relaxed from April 26th, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi confirmed at a press conference on Friday. The lower classification of ‘yellow zone’ will be reintroduced from this date, with schools and ‘open-air business activities’ at the top of the agenda for a restart.

As the latest health data confirmed that the national contagion rate had fallen slightly during the past week, from 0.92 to 0.85, Italy’s health ministry on Friday announced a roadmap for reopening activity in Italy and easing coronavirus restrictions. The Italian authorities declared that Campania will move from red to orange, with Puglia, Valle d’Aosta and Sardinia remaining red zones for at least another week. The Health Minister, Roberto Speranza, has signed the latest ordinance detailing these changes. From Monday 19th April, here are the the zone classifications:

Red zone: Puglia, Valle d’Aosta, Sardinia.

Orange zone: All other regions.

No regions are currently classed as lower-risk yellow or white zones.

Note that in addition to the regional classifications, many towns and provinces may declare their own additional restrictions.

What’s the difference between red and orange?

Red zone rules mean the closure of all restaurants (except for take-away and delivery), bars, non-essential shops and hairdressers as well as tight restriction on movement. Anyone leaving the house will need to justify doing so using a self-declaration form. In the orange zone, shops can remain open and movement within your region is permitted. A 10pm-5am curfew remains in place nationwide, and all non-essential travel between regions is still prohibited.
